# Jeep Wrangler 2007–2018 · Maintenance schedule & cost to maintain

CarCaseFile editorial · filed 06-27-2026 · updated 10-07-2026

Scheduled service only, not the documented problems (those are on the [case file's problem list](https://carcasefile.com/vehicles/jeep-wrangler-2007-2018/#own), with their own cost calculator). Every interval and cost range below is sourced, not estimated.

Where the manufacturer publishes separate normal and severe-condition schedules, this ledger defaults to the **severe** interval and says so. That's not us padding the numbers: a manufacturer's own severe-duty list usually describes ordinary driving, things like short trips, stop-and-go traffic, extended idling, dust or road salt. But the list is written per manufacturer and sometimes per model year, and some are far narrower than others, so each item's "why" text names what *this* manufacturer actually wrote and gives the normal-schedule number alongside it. Read the item, not this paragraph.

Cumulative cost

## What routine maintenance adds up to, by mileage

Running total of the independent-shop cost ranges below. Each bar is everything due by that point, added to everything before it.

Solid bar = low estimate, tint = high estimate. This is a routine-maintenance floor, not a total cost of ownership. Fuel, insurance, tires, and any of the documented problems above are separate. Items that recur more than once per interval under a severe-duty schedule (an air filter due every 5k, say) are counted here at one occurrence, not the full repeat total. The real cumulative spend for a high-mileage severe-duty driver runs higher than this chart shows.

either way, and a commission never changes what this page says.

## Every oil change (3,000-10,000 mi by year and use)

### Engine oil and filter, 3.8L (2007-2011): 3,000 mi on the 2007 book's Schedule B

$148–$191 DIY-realistic

2007 book: every 3,000 miles or 3 months if ANY Schedule B condition applies (below 32F, stop-and-go, idling, dust, trips under 10 miles, towing, off-road and more), else 6,000. 2008-2010 books: oil change indicator, never past 6,000 miles or 6 months. 2011 book: never past 8,000 or 6 months. 5W-20, 6 qt. RepairPal 2007-2011 rows: $148-$191.

### Engine oil and filter, 3.6L (2012-2018): 4,000 mi on Jeep's Severe Duty test (2014-2018 books)

$151–$191 DIY-realistic

Change at the oil change indicator, never past 8,000 miles or 6 months (2012 book) or 10,000 miles or 12 months (2013-2018). Jeep's Severe Duty line is 4,000 miles: dusty and off-road use (2014), or mostly idling (2015-2018), plus 350 engine hours in 2018. The 2012-2013 books print no such line. 5W-30 in the 2012 book, 5W-20 in 2013-2018, 6 qt. RepairPal 2012-2018 rows: $151-$191.

### Tire rotation

$49–$72 DIY-realistic

Every 6,000 miles in the 2007-2010 books, 8,000 in 2011-2012, at every oil change in 2013-2018, and in the 2011-2018 books at the first sign of irregular wear. Every 2007-2018 book says four-wheel drive depends on tires of equal size, type and circumference, and a difference can damage the transfer case. Buy tires as a matched set. RepairPal 2007-2018 rows: $49-$72 (the 2013 row was not read).

## 20,000 mi

### Cabin air filter (2011-2018 trucks with the filter fitted)

$72–$89 DIY-realistic

The 2014-2018 books replace it every 20,000 miles. The 2011-2013 books describe the A/C air filter as if equipped and print no interval. The 2008 book lists an A/C filter every 12,000 miles, and the 2007 and 2009-2010 books list none. Look behind the glove box before buying one. ## 30,000 mi

### Engine air filter

$70–$87 DIY-realistic

Replace every 30,000 miles (2008-2010 and 2013-2018 books) or 32,000 (2011-2012). No book shortens it. For dusty or off-road use they add an inspection: every 12,000 miles (2008-2010), 16,000 (2011-2012), every oil change (2013-2018). The 2007 book only inspects it, every 15,000 on Schedule B and 30,000 on A, replacing as needed. RepairPal 2007-2018 rows: $70-$87.

Every 30,000 miles (32,000 in the 2011-2012 books) only for towing, snow plowing, heavy loads, taxi, police, delivery, off-road, desert use, or over half your driving at high speed above 90F. Otherwise no change: the 2008-2012 books check the level at every oil change. The 2007 book inspects it and never changes it. Mopar lubricant, MS-9224 in every book but 2013. ## 60,000 mi

### Automatic transmission fluid and filter (severe-schedule default)

$247–$310 Shop job

42RLE four-speed with the 3.8L (named in the 2007-2009 books), five-speed with the 3.6L, ATF+4 only. Change at 60,000 miles (64,000 in the 2011-2012 books) for police, taxi, fleet or frequent towing, and at 120,000 for everyone. The 2007 book changes it at 60,000 on Schedule B, never on A. The 2013 book's severe row prints the manual gearbox's longer list. RepairPal 2007-2018 rows: $247-$310.

### Transfer case fluid (severe-schedule default)

Shop job

ATF+4 in every book, not gear oil. Changed at 60,000 and 120,000 miles (64,000 and 128,000 in 2011-2012) for police, taxi, fleet or frequent towing. The 2008-2010 books add off-road to that list, 2011-2018 drop it. Otherwise inspect only. The 2007 book drains it at 60,000 on Schedule B, 120,000 on A. No RepairPal transfer case fluid price was read for the Wrangler.

### Front brake pads (wear-based)

$376–$433 Shop job

No Jeep mileage. The books inspect the linings every 12,000 miles (2007 Schedule B, 2008-2010), 16,000 (2011-2012) or 20,000 (2013-2018), and at every oil change in the 2013-2018 books. RepairPal 2007-2018 rows: $376-$433. One 2008 row reads $542-$599, which no other year matches, so it is left out.

### Shocks (wear-based, no Jeep interval)

$395–$807 Shop job

No Jeep replacement interval. The books inspect the front suspension at every oil change (2007) and every 12,000 to 24,000 miles (2008-2018), by year. Worn shocks cup the tires even on a correct alignment, and an alignment belongs after new ones. RepairPal 2007-2018 rows: $395-$807.

### Control arm and track bar bushings (wear-based, no Jeep interval)

$127–$205 Shop job

No Jeep interval. Worn bushings let the axle move, so a fresh alignment will not hold. This file names a worn track bar bushing or loose mount as the most common single cause of death wobble, so check it at every front-end inspection. RepairPal control arm bushings, 2008-2018 rows: $127-$205 (2007 row not read).

### Motor mounts (inspect, wear-based)

$396–$582 Shop job

No Jeep interval, and we found no documented mount weak point for this generation. Rubber mounts wear with age and torque. A collapsed mount lets the engine move, which loads the other mounts and the exhaust joints. Symptoms: a clunk into drive or reverse, vibration at idle in gear. RepairPal rows: $502-$582 for 2007-2011 (3.8L), $396-$476 for 2012-2018 (3.6L).

### Wheel alignment (after tires or suspension work)

$183–$269 Shop job

Not a Jeep mileage item. Get one with new tires and after any steering or suspension work, including a lift. The death wobble fix in this file ends with an alignment after the track bar or front-end parts are replaced. RepairPal 2007-2018 rows: $183-$269.
