# Toyota Camry 2025–present · Maintenance schedule & cost to maintain

CarCaseFile editorial · filed 08-02-2026 · updated 09-02-2026

Scheduled service only, not the documented problems (those are on the [case file's problem list](https://carcasefile.com/vehicles/toyota-camry-2025-2026/#own), with their own cost calculator). Every interval and cost range below is sourced, not estimated.

Where the manufacturer publishes separate normal and severe-condition schedules, this ledger defaults to the **severe** interval and says so. That's not us padding the numbers: a manufacturer's own severe-duty list usually describes ordinary driving, things like short trips, stop-and-go traffic, extended idling, dust or road salt. But the list is written per manufacturer and sometimes per model year, and some are far narrower than others, so each item's "why" text names what *this* manufacturer actually wrote and gives the normal-schedule number alongside it. Read the item, not this paragraph.

Cumulative cost

## What routine maintenance adds up to, by mileage

Running total of the independent-shop cost ranges below. Each bar is everything due by that point, added to everything before it.

Solid bar = low estimate, tint = high estimate. This is a routine-maintenance floor, not a total cost of ownership. Fuel, insurance, tires, and any of the documented problems above are separate. Items that recur more than once per interval under a severe-duty schedule (an air filter due every 5k, say) are counted here at one occurrence, not the full repeat total. The real cumulative spend for a high-mileage severe-duty driver runs higher than this chart shows.

## Every 5,000–10,000 mi (oil service)

### Engine oil and filter (severe-schedule default)

$65–$130 DIY-realistic

Toyota's number for this car is 10,000 miles or 12 months normally, and 5,000 miles or 6 months if you drive the special conditions Toyota lists. Spec is SAE 0W-8, about 4.5 quarts with the filter. Toyota allows 0W-16 only when 0W-8 is unavailable, and says to go back to 0W-8 at the next change.

On this generation

- The grade is the trap on this car, not the interval. Costa Oil's own 2025 Camry oil-change page still lists 0W-16 as the manufacturer's recommended oil, and 0W-8 is a dealer-counter grade most quick-lube bays do not stock. Ask what is going in the engine before you hand over the keys, and read the sticker afterward.
- Toyota's severe list on this car is unusually narrow. The 2025 guide names exactly two triggers: towing or heavy loading, and dirt, dusty or muddy roads or roads with melted snow. Short trips, idling and stop-and-go traffic are not on it. Commute on clean dry pavement and the 10,000-mile interval is Toyota's own answer, not a shortcut. Live where roads get salted and slushy and you are back on 5,000 for those months.

### HV battery cooling intake filter (inspect every 5,000 mi, clean every 20,000 mi)

$20–$100 DIY-realistic

The item most owners have never heard of, and it is on Toyota's own 2025 Camry chart: inspect at every 5,000-mile service, clean every 20,000. The traction battery is air cooled, so a screen loaded with dust or pet hair makes the fan run longer and the pack run hotter, and heat is what wears a hybrid battery out. Toyota catalogs a high-voltage battery intake filter for the Camry when a screen is too far gone to clean, so confirm the part number against your own VIN before ordering.

On this generation

- The car tells you when it has gone too far, and the message is easy to misread as a dealer upsell. It names maintenance required for the hybrid battery cooling parts and points you at the owner's manual. A cooling fan that has gotten louder or runs longer than it used to is the earlier warning. Neither is a wait-and-see item on the most expensive part in the car.
- Replace the screen only when it will not come clean, cleaning is the scheduled service. The vent's position differs between hybrid models, so read the manual for your Camry rather than following a Prius video. Carry a dog or haul dusty cargo in the back and check it more often than the book asks.

## 10,000 mi

### Cabin air filter

$20–$45 DIY-realistic

Toyota's 2025 Camry chart replaces this every 10,000 miles, at the same visit as the oil. That is twice as often as the 15,000-mile figure third-party schedules print for this car. A clogged one costs you HVAC airflow and a musty smell, not engine health, and on this car it lives behind the glovebox, so it is a few minutes of your own time rather than a shop line.

On this generation

- This is where the book over-services. Nothing on the car suffers if you run it closer to the 15,000 miles that outside schedules list for the 2025 Camry. What Toyota's shorter number really tells you is that the filter is cheap and the access is easy, so buy the part and fit it yourself rather than paying shop labor for it twice a year.

## 30,000 mi

### Engine air filter

$25–$55 DIY-realistic

Toyota replaces this every 30,000 miles on the 2025 Camry. The severe column does not shorten the replacement, it adds an inspection at every 5,000-mile service for drivers on dirt, dusty or muddy roads or roads with melted snow. So the honest severe answer on this car is look at it more often and replace it when it is actually dirty, not on a shorter clock.

### Brake fluid flush (no Toyota interval published)

$80–$140 Shop job

Toyota publishes no brake fluid replacement mileage for this car. The 2025 guide only inspects level and condition, and the 30,000-mile figure circulating for the Camry is a third-party number. Brake fluid still pulls moisture from the air on a calendar, which is why Toyota dealers themselves recommend every 2 years or roughly 20,000 miles. Treat it as a time item, and note that a hybrid's friction brakes sit unused for long stretches while the fluid ages anyway.

On this generation

- This is not a driveway job on a hybrid. The brake system holds hydraulic pressure for about two minutes after shutdown, and pad or fluid work can set codes C1341 through C1344. Do not count on pulling the 12V battery to clear them: some codes go, and you are still left recalibrating the steering angle sensor. Ask whether the shop has Toyota-capable software before anyone opens a bleeder.

### Wheel alignment (event-triggered, not a Toyota interval)

$90–$311 Shop job

Toyota schedules no alignment. It is event-driven: any time you buy tires or touch the suspension, plus a check about once a year. Skip it after new tires and you pay for those tires twice, because a misaligned car scrubs fresh tread off unevenly. And if a shop aligns the car and it will not hold, look at the control arm bushings before you pay for a second alignment, since worn bushings let the wheel walk back out of spec within weeks.

### Tires: right type for a commuter sedan, rotate every 5,000 mi

$450–$1,400 Shop job

Not a manufacturer item, but the biggest recurring line after fuel. This is a commuter sedan, so a good all-season is the right tire and an all-terrain has no use case here beyond worse wet grip and shorter tread life. Sizes run 205/65R16 on the LE, 235/45R18 on SE and XLE, and 235/40R19 on the XSE, and the 19s cost real money. Rotate at every 5,000-mile service, which is Toyota's own interval, and fit new tires to a car whose struts are still good, because worn dampers will scallop a fresh set within a year.

On this generation

- One AWD rule that does not transfer to this car. The Camry's all-wheel drive drives the rear axle with its own electric motor-generator rather than sending engine torque back mechanically, so the mismatched-tread-depth warning that protects a mechanical AWD driveline does not apply the same way here. Match your tires anyway so stability control and the front-to-rear torque split behave predictably, but do not let a shop sell you four tires over a circumference argument that belongs to a different kind of AWD.

## 60,000 mi

### Front brake pads, and caliper slide clean-and-lube

$200–$580 Shop job

Regenerative braking does most of the slowing, so the friction pads barely wear. Toyota hybrids routinely reach 70,000 to 100,000 miles on the original set, and hybrid shops report cars past 200,000 on factory brakes. The wear item is everything around the pad: slide pins seize and pad material corrodes because these brakes never get hot enough to dry out. Budget a hardware service here, not a pad job.

On this generation

- Ask for a clean and lube before you agree to pads. Shops that live on hybrids strip the calipers, clean the rust off the slides and re-grease them, because seized pins are what ends a hybrid brake system long before the friction material runs out. It is the cheap service that keeps original brakes working past 150,000 miles.
- The 4mm rule is a gas-car rule. A hybrid that reaches 4mm at 130,000 miles is wearing about a millimetre every 20,000 miles and has years left. If an inspection sheet flags this car's pads red on thickness alone, ask for the wear rate before you authorize the job.

### Hybrid transaxle (eCVT) fluid

$150–$320 Shop job

Toyota inspects this at 30,000 miles and every 30,000 after, and never calls for a replacement on the normal schedule. The only replacements Toyota prints are at 60,000 and 120,000 miles, and only for drivers who tow, run a roof load, or carry heavy loads. The eCVT is a planetary gearset, not a belt CVT, so nothing inside slips or sheds material into the fluid. A drain and fill here is optional insurance, and it is one of the most commonly upsold services on Toyota hybrids.

### Shocks and struts (wear-based, no Toyota interval)

$900–$1,800 Shop job

Toyota publishes nothing here. Dampers generally run 50,000 to 100,000 miles, at the short end on rough city roads. The reason this belongs on a cost-to-own page is the tire bill it hides: a worn strut lets the tire bounce, and the tread comes back scalloped in high and low patches you can feel by running a palm along it. If you are burning through tires faster than the alignment explains, check these first. Front struts force an alignment afterward, rear shocks do not, so price the pair together.

### CV axle boots (inspect), axle replacement if a boot has torn

$250–$950 Shop job

Boots typically last 70,000 to 130,000 miles. Start looking at 60,000, because the repair is cheap while the boot is only split and expensive once the joint has run dry. The part owners miss is the brake bill behind it: grease flung from a torn boot lands on the rotor and soaks into the pad, and a contaminated pad cannot be cleaned, it gets replaced. AWD cars carry rear halfshafts too, and Toyota's own chart adds a rear drive shaft nut torque check on AWD.

### Control arm bushings (wear-based, no Toyota interval)

$200–$650 Shop job

No manufacturer interval. Rubber bushings commonly go around 100,000 miles, sooner on rough roads or in road-salt country, and age counts on its own, so a low-mileage car that is 8 to 10 years old is still a candidate. The tell is an alignment that will not hold: worn bushings let the wheel move out of its designed geometry under load, so the car walks back out of spec within weeks of a fresh alignment. Clunking over bumps and vague steering come with it.

## 100,000 mi / 120 months

### Engine coolant (first service)

$100–$220 Shop job

Toyota's first engine coolant change on this car is 100,000 miles or 120 months, then every 50,000 miles or 60 months after that. It takes Toyota Super Long Life Coolant, the pink pre-mixed kind, and it is not interchangeable with the older red long-life. Watch the months as much as the miles: at 10 years it is due whatever the odometer says.

On this generation

- This car has two coolant circuits, and a flush quote that does not say which one is incomplete. The engine loop is due at 100,000 miles, the inverter loop has its own reservoir and its own much longer schedule. Make the shop name the circuit on the invoice, otherwise you can pay for a coolant service and still have the original fill in the half that matters for the hybrid electronics.

## 120,000 mi

### Spark plugs

$180–$320 Shop job

Toyota schedules the iridium plugs at 120,000 miles and marks the item as required under the emissions control warranty, which is worth knowing: skipping it can matter for a claim, not just for how the car runs. Nothing gets bundled with them on this engine. The A25A uses hydraulic lash adjusters, so there is no valve clearance check at any mileage, and it is chain-driven, so there is no timing belt service ever.

### Motor mounts (wear-based, no Toyota interval)

$250–$900 Shop job

No Toyota interval, and this generation is too young to have a documented weak mount, so the honest window is the generic one: rubber mounts typically go 80,000 to 120,000 miles, sooner on stop-and-go duty. What makes it a real cost line is what a collapsed mount does next. The engine starts moving, and that movement works on exhaust connections, hoses, wiring and the mounts still doing their job, so one skipped mount becomes two mounts and an exhaust repair. The tells are a clunk shifting into drive or reverse, vibration at idle in gear, and a lurch under throttle.

On this generation

- Check the warranty before you pay for this one. Toyota's powertrain warranty on the 2025 Camry runs 60 months or 60,000 miles and lists engine mounts by name among the covered parts. A mount that fails inside that window is a warranty claim, not a repair bill, and a shop that quotes it without asking about mileage is not looking out for you.

## 150,000 mi / 180 months

### Inverter coolant (first service)

$120–$250 Shop job

The hybrid's power electronics run their own cooling loop with its own reservoir, and Toyota's first service on it is 150,000 miles or 180 months, then every 50,000 miles or 60 months. Third-party schedules for this car leave the item off entirely or fold it into the engine coolant, which is how it gets missed. The 180-month clock will come due before the mileage does on most cars.

### Engine coolant (repeat service)

$100–$220 Shop job

Second engine coolant change, 50,000 miles after the first. Once the factory fill is out the interval drops from 100,000 miles to 50,000 miles or 60 months, so this becomes a recurring cost rather than a one-time event. Doing it in the same visit as the inverter coolant above saves a second round of shop time.

## 5 years (any mileage)

### 12V battery

$150–$350 DIY-realistic

Batteries fail on a calendar, not an odometer. Three to five years is normal life, so get it load-tested from year three and plan on replacing it by year five whatever the mileage reads. On this car the failure does not look like a slow crank, because a hybrid has no starter motor: the car simply will not wake up. Buy on the group size and cold-cranking amps that match the battery physically in the car, since published fitment data for this generation still contradicts itself.

On this generation

- On where to buy, one popular claim is not settled. Some independent battery dealers say big-box retailers get a lower-tier version of the same brand. The retailer disputes it and we cannot verify it either way, so we are not asserting it. What is checkable in five minutes at the counter is the warranty term on the specific battery in front of you, free-replacement period versus prorated, and those genuinely differ between retailers inside the same brand.
