GMC Acadia 2007–2016 · Maintenance schedule & cost to maintain

CarCaseFile editorial · filed 06-27-2026 · updated 09-23-2026

Scheduled service only, not the documented problems (those are on the case file's problem list, with their own cost calculator). Every interval and cost range below is sourced, not estimated.

Where the manufacturer publishes separate normal and severe-condition schedules, this ledger defaults to the severe interval and says so. That's not us padding the numbers: a manufacturer's own severe-duty list usually describes ordinary driving, things like short trips, stop-and-go traffic, extended idling, dust or road salt. But the list is written per manufacturer and sometimes per model year, and some are far narrower than others, so each item's "why" text names what this manufacturer actually wrote and gives the normal-schedule number alongside it. Read the item, not this paragraph.

Cumulative cost

What routine maintenance adds up to, by mileage

Running total of the independent-shop cost ranges below. Each bar is everything due by that point, added to everything before it.

Every oil-life alert $328–$720 22,500 mi $433–$842 45,000-50,000 mi $744–$1,401 60,000 mi $2,223–$5,442 97,500-100,000 mi $2,544–$5,973 150,000 mi $2,698–$6,235 Every 3 years $2,796–$6,378 5 years $3,829–$7,901

Solid bar = low estimate, tint = high estimate. This is a routine-maintenance floor, not a total cost of ownership. Fuel, insurance, tires, and any of the documented problems above are separate. Items that recur more than once per interval under a severe-duty schedule (an air filter due every 5k, say) are counted here at one occurrence, not the full repeat total. The real cumulative spend for a high-mileage severe-duty driver runs higher than this chart shows.

Every oil-life alert (at least once a year)

  • Engine oil and filter (oil life system, no fixed factory mileage)

    $59–$147 DIY-realistic

GM's oil life system sets this: change within 600 miles of CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON, at least once a year. No separate severe oil number. 5W-30: GM6094M in 2007-2010 books, dexos in the 2011 book, dexos1 in 2012-2015. 5.5 qt in 2007-2011 books, 6.0 qt in 2012, 2014, 2015, 6.4 qt in 2013. RepairPal: $124-$147 for 2007-2010, $59-$82 for 2011-2016.

  • Tire rotation

    $49–$72 DIY-realistic

GM's 2007-2010 books say rotate every 5,000 to 8,000 miles, the 2011-2015 books every 7,500. The 2015 book says replace tires as a set of four, put a new pair on the rear axle if you replace only two, and replace tires after six years regardless of tread.

  • Wheel alignment

    $220–$501 Shop job

Not a GM mileage item. GM's 2015 book ties it to pulling, poor handling or unusual tire wear, and says check it if uneven wear continues after a rotation. Get one with new tires and after strut, bushing or steering work. Worn bushings are the usual reason one will not hold. RepairPal rows: $220-$322 for 2007, $342-$501 for 2008-2016.

45,000-50,000 mi

  • Automatic transmission fluid (severe-schedule default)

    $116–$199 Shop job

GM's severe chart: every 50,000 miles in the 2007-2011 books, 45,000, 90,000 and 135,000 in 2012-2015. Normal: 100,000 in 2007-2011, 97,500 in 2012-2014, none on the 2015 normal chart. Severe means mainly hot city traffic, hills, frequent towing, or taxi, police or delivery use. 2012-2015 add high-speed driving, and 2012 drops hot city traffic. DEXRON-VI.

    On this generation

    • Firestone's schedule pages for 2012-2016 put a transmission fluid change at 45,000, 90,000, 97,500 and 135,000 miles, which merges GM's two charts. GM's 2012-2015 severe charts have no transmission mark at 97,500, so a severe-schedule car changed at 90,000 is not due again at 97,500.
  • Transfer case fluid, AWD (severe-schedule default)

    $75–$200 Shop job

AWD only, and not in the 2007-2008 schedules. Severe: every 50,000 miles in 2009-2011 books, 45,000/90,000/135,000 in 2012-2015. Normal: 100,000 (2009-2011), 97,500 (2012-2015). The 2009 test matches the transmission's. 2010-2011 books apply it only to frequent towing or taxi, police or delivery use. 75W-90 synthetic. GM: do not power wash the output seals.

    On this generation

    • GM's fluid table lists the same 75W-90 for the rear drive module, but no GM schedule from 2007 to 2015 has a rear drive module change, and Firestone's 2009-2016 schedule pages list none either. Ask what a quoted rear differential service is fixing.
  • Engine air filter

    $120–$160 DIY-realistic

2007-2011 books: every 50,000 miles. 2012-2015 books: 45,000 miles or four years on both charts, though their filter page still says 50,000. In dust, GM says inspect it at every oil change. The 2007-2015 parts tables all list GM 15278634, with ACDelco A3083C in the 2010-2015 books. The lid is held by screws and carries a sensor connector.

60,000 mi (wear checks with no GM interval)

  • Front brake pads

    $420–$477 DIY-realistic

Wear-based, no GM mileage. GM's schedule inspects the brakes at every oil change in the 2007-2011 books and every 7,500 miles in the 2012-2015 books. GM names chirping, grinding, squealing or harder stops as signs of wear. GM says replace pads as complete sets. RepairPal's rows are the same $420-$477 for every year from 2007 to 2016.

  • Shocks and struts

    $308–$1,210 Shop job

No GM interval. GM's signs of wear: steering wheel vibration, bounce or sway while braking, longer stops, uneven tire wear. Monroe says worn struts bounce the tire and cup the tread, so fix worn struts before buying tires. Budget an alignment after. RepairPal rows: $308-$539 for 2008-2016, $1,033-$1,210 for 2007.

  • CV axle boots (inspect), CV axle (replace if a boot has torn)

    $230–$1,400 Shop job

No GM interval. Axles typically last 70,000 to 130,000 miles. A torn boot throws grease around the wheel and lets dirt into the joint, so catching a tear early can save the axle. The cost is a generic range, RepairPal has no Acadia rows for this job.

  • Control arm bushings

    $200–$420 Shop job

No GM interval, typically around 100,000 miles. A worn bushing lets the wheel shift, so an alignment will not hold and the tires wear unevenly. If a fresh alignment drifts, check these first. The cost is a generic range, RepairPal shows no Acadia rows for this job.

  • Motor mounts (inspect)

    $321–$534 Shop job

No GM interval, and we have not confirmed a mount weak point specific to this generation. Signs: a clunk shifting into drive or reverse, or vibration at idle. A failed mount lets the engine move, which can break an exhaust flex pipe and tear hoses and wiring. RepairPal rows: $321-$401 for 2007-2008, $367-$534 for 2009-2016.

97,500-100,000 mi

  • Spark plugs

    $321–$531 Shop job

100,000 miles in the 2007-2011 books, 97,500 in 2012-2015, the same on both charts, so no separate severe number. GM's parts tables list ACDelco 41-107, GM 12611882, in the 2007-2011 books and 41-109, GM 12622561, in 2012-2015. Gap: 0.043 in through the 2012 book, 0.037-0.043 in in the 2013-2015 books. RepairPal rows run higher from 2009.

150,000 mi

  • Accessory drive belt (inspect)

    $154–$262 DIY-realistic

GM calls for a visual inspection, not a replacement, at 150,000 miles, and in the 2011-2015 books at 150,000 or 10 years, on both charts once the books print two. Replace it if frayed, cracked or damaged. GM's 2015 book adds a squeak as a sign. The cost shown is a replacement.

Every 3 years (any mileage)

  • Brake fluid

    $98–$143 Shop job

The 2015 book: 45,000, 90,000 and 135,000 miles or every three years, on both charts, so no separate severe number. The 2013 and 2014 books: 150,000 miles or 10 years. The 2007-2012 books set no brake fluid change. DOT 3 in every book. For 2014, Firestone's page lists 45,000 against GM's 150,000. RepairPal rows: $98-$143.

5 years (any mileage)

  • Coolant drain and fill (DEX-COOL)

    $521–$642 Shop job

GM marks 150,000 miles or five years in every book from 2007 to 2015, on both charts in the 2012-2015 books, so for most owners the calendar comes first. No separate severe number. DEX-COOL only, 50/50 with clean drinkable water. RepairPal rows: $521-$642.

  • Battery

    $512–$881 DIY-realistic

Calendar item. GM's schedule sets no battery replacement. AAA puts battery life at three to five years, closer to three in hot climates, and says test it every year from year three. Match the size on the old battery's label. YourMechanic's only row in this range, the 2016 V6, is $512, with shop and dealer prices of $605-$881.
