GMC Acadia 2024–2026 · Pre-purchase checklist

Bring this to the inspection. Every check below is specific to this generation's documented failure modes — not generic used-car advice.

  1. Check 01

Have a GM dealer run the VIN for open field actions, not just recalls — the ones that matter are service update N242471431 (brake-control-module pad-wear calibration), N242441680 (early-2024 LK0 engine oil and filter replacement), and Special Coverage N262546590 (upper radiator hose quick-connector, extended to 5 years/60,000 miles).

  2. Check 02

Brake-test it like you mean it: listen for low-speed squeal, then compare the dash brake-pad-life percentage against actual measured pad thickness on a lift. Owners report pads recommended for replacement by 16,000 miles and dash readings that don't match the pads.

  3. Check 03

Ask specifically whether the brake master cylinder has ever been replaced, and reject any car with an unresolved 'Service Brake Assist' or 'Service ESC' message in its history — replacement parts have gone on national backorder, and there is no recall forcing the repair.

  4. Check 04

With the engine warm at idle, watch the oil-pressure reading for rapid toggling or a low reading — GM's published diagnosis for erratic LK0 oil pressure involves dropping the oil pan to inspect loose piston oil-nozzle centers, and several 2024s logged 'No Oil Pressure — Turn Off Engine' alerts under 7,000 miles.

  5. Check 05

Inspect the upper radiator hose quick-connect fitting at the radiator for coolant crust or dried residue, and confirm the coolant level is at the mark — this is the exact part covered by Special Coverage N262546590.

  6. Check 06

Drive with reverse automatic braking and adaptive cruise active: phantom braking (forward and in reverse) is one of the largest complaint categories on this generation. Confirm all software updates are applied.

  7. Check 07

Cycle the infotainment screen, cameras, and OnStar functions through a full drive — screen blackouts and telematics-module dropouts show up in complaints, and some modules sat on parts backorder.

Walk-away signals

2024 (first-year build — heaviest concentration of brake-wear, oil-pressure, and coolant-connector complaints) · Any 2024–2025 without documented brake service and the open GM field actions closed by VIN
